Todd's Pro Tips For Uncertains Times
Something I find quite helpful during uncertain times is to “take control” over something that might be stressing me out. A lot of people are worried about the shortage of hand sanitizer. And while this might seem like a small thing, you have to remember that toilet paper is also a small thing, but people’s desire to “take control” over something in their lives lead to a massive run on toilet paper.
I’ve been sharing this hand sanitizer “recipe” with friends and family and thought it might help if I can provide a small bit of practical advice that alleviates just a bit of stress.
Make Your Own Hand Sanitizer
To make 1 Cup:
2/3 cup rubbing alcohol
1/3 cup aloe vera gel
Mix those 2 together, put that into your empty sanitizer bottle and you’re restocked. Feel free to add a few drops of essential oils if you want to level up your home remedy with a more pleasant smell.
Take Control With Comfort Food
Another way to take control, without hoarding - is to think of your favorite food items; your “comfort food”. Quite often when we have anxiety about running out of food, we don’t realize that it’s really these items that our brain is sending panic signals about! It’s more about continuity than it is about self-preservation. I have waffles with maple syrup, bananas and walnuts pretty much every Saturday. So we grabbed an extra package of waffles and 2 extra bottles of maple syrup. If I had to choose between maple syrup or toilet paper, I’m going with the maple syrup. And if your comfort food is something that might not last too long and you’re worried - stick it in the freezer! That extends the shelf life of a lot of foods.
Please take care, keep practicing social distancing, and remember to keep a positive attitude! We’ll be through this shortly.
